This Week's GOALs:
GOAL: Be
conversational in Mandarin Chinese.
PROCESS: I learned 5 new critical Mandarin Chinese phrases daily for 7 days, 30 minutes per day. (Google searched "most common Mandarin phrases").
GOAL: Learn
100 most frequently used Mandarin words.
PROCESS: I learned 15 new words daily for 7 days, 15 minutes per day. (Google searched "100 most frequently used Mandarin words").
Realizations:
- Pronunciation Is Easy - Making perfect intonations when speaking Chinese is not as essential as people (teachers) say. You can say a bunch of words, and the just make sure you correctly intonate the final word of the sentence. Chinese speakers in dramas often speak a sentence really fast and don’t mind the intonations, but the very last word is always correct. Conclusion: learning Chinese isn’t as darn hard as we think it is.
- In every Chinese drama, there is one unrealistically rich and spoiled dude who treats everyone around him like straight trash. Oh, and everyone in China is filthy rich. Conclusion: dramas are fictional - “Autumn’s Concerto”
- Chinese history is FULL of Kung Fu. It’s AWESOME. “Ip Man 2” (best Kung Fu movie ever)
Total time spent learning Chinese: 5 hours 15 minutes
