Chinese

This week's focus language was Mandarin Chinese!
(super fun language)

This Week's GOALs:
GOAL: Be conversational in Mandarin Chinese.
PROCESSI learned 5 new critical Mandarin Chinese phrases daily for 7 days, 30 minutes per day. (Google searched "most common Mandarin phrases").

GOAL: Learn 100 most frequently used Mandarin words.
PROCESS: I learned 15 new words daily for 7 days, 15 minutes per day. (Google searched "100 most frequently used Mandarin words").

       Realizations:
  1. Pronunciation Is Easy - Making perfect intonations when speaking Chinese is not as essential as people (teachers) say. You can say a bunch of words, and the just make sure you correctly intonate the final word of the sentence. Chinese speakers in dramas often speak a sentence really fast and don’t mind the intonations, but the very last word is always correct. Conclusion: learning Chinese isn’t as darn hard as we think it is.
  2. In every Chinese drama, there is one unrealistically rich and spoiled dude who treats everyone around him like straight trash. Oh, and everyone in China is filthy rich. Conclusion: dramas are fictional - “Autumn’s Concerto”
  3. Chinese history is FULL of Kung Fu. It’s AWESOME. “Ip Man 2” (best Kung Fu movie ever)

Total time spent learning Chinese: 5 hours 15 minutes
